That's a real Quentin Tarantino movie for sure, but besides elements inspired by Italian director Enzo Castellari's 1978 movie Inglorious Bastards, there seems to be some influence from Charlie Chaplin (the way the crazy German dictator is portrayed)!

One of the film´s main protagonists: the character has been described as "a voluble, freewheeling outlaw" similar to Jules Winnfield from Tarantino's Pulp Fiction.

Director Quentin Tarantino is helming Inglourious Basterds, an upcoming World War II movie based on a script he wrote. The story is inspired by Italian director Enzo Castellari's 1978 movie Inglorious Bastards: but Quentin Tarantino is bringing his magic touch to transform the whole thing in something new. The movie Inglourious Basterds is gathering a large cast besides Brad Pitt and Melanie Laurent.

The production team is striving to complete the movie in time for release at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2009, but the movie is slated for an official U.S. release on August 21, 2009.

Here below a first look at Brad Pitt as Lt. Aldo Raine aka "Aldo the Apache" in the movie Inglourious Basterds:

Plot - Synopsis:
"Inglourious Basterds begins in German-occupied France, where Shoshanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent) witnesses the execution of her family at the hand of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). Shosanna narrowly escapes and flees to Paris, where she forges a new identity as the owner and operator of a cinema.
Elsewhere in Europe, Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) organizes a group of Jewish soldiers to engage in targeted acts of retribution. Known to their enemy as "The Basterds," Raine's squad joins German actress and undercover agent Bridget Von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger) on a mission to take down the leaders of The Third Reich. Fates converge under a cinema marquee, where Shosanna is poised to carry out a revenge plan of her own..."

The film will be divided into five chapters:

- Chapter One: Once Upon a Time in Nazi Occupied France
- Chapter Two: Inglourious Basterds
- Chapter Three: German Night in Paris (filmed in "French New Wave Black and White")
- Chapter Four: Operation Kino (you may translate by Operation Movie Theater)
- Chapter Five: Revenge of the Giant Face

If you're wondering about the title's spelling (it should indeed be Inglorious Bastards): that's no mistake! Frolicsome Quentin Tarentino definitely chose to write it this way! Is it because Brad Pitt is playing as an illiterate lieutenant? Or maybe because Tarantino is dislexic and wants to poke fun of himself? Any guess? Do the misspellings in the title Inglourious Basterds bother you?
